Physical and Spiritual Prayer in our Retreat House (Villa de Maria)

A very important part of our apostolate in Totus Tuus is to pray for the sick, but not only the ones that are physically ill, also those who need to heal their hearts.  In some way, we are all sick and we are in great need of God. For that reason, we organize days of prayer in Villa de Maria where we join together in the Rosary and share the Holy Mass imploring God for our physical and spiritual health. We also have the blessing to receive the sacrament of reconciliation, and the priests pray and anoint with blessed oil all the faithful. This is a day of healing and release where you can feel the presence of God and his loving hand upon us.

Our work includes proclaiming the gospel of Our Lord Jesus which calls us to love and serve our neighbor in need.

Totus Tuus has a twofold mission:

• Provide hospice care for abandoned terminally ill children.
• Build and promote our charity and evangelization programs, which help spread our message and will make it possible for us to reach out more terminally ill children around the world

We have a hospice for abandoned and terminally ill children in Bogotá, Colombia, a country where many children are dying without any care or help. Through the work of Totus Tuus, we provide help to these children through:

• Residence
• Medical care
• Spiritual guidance
• An abundance of love.

In the middle of poverty, and human suffering, as faithful Christians it is our responsibility to help our brothers and sisters in most need. Therefore, we are helping abandoned children who suffer any type of terminal diseases and who are in the last stage of their illness. We help these children while they are under extensive medical treatment and others who are in last state of their illness, when all the medical procedures have been exhausted.

In some cases this means that they have to face all the physical and moral losses generated by their illness. At the same time, they need to prepare themselves for death. This is the moment when Totus Tuus comes in to help them, offering residence, helping them to live and die with dignity, procuring them the necessary education and guidance, and giving them all the professional and spiritual support and all the love they need in their personal suffering in these final moments. This help is especially important in countries like Colombia that do not provide them with the appropriate environment to confront with serenity and peace the end of their life.
